Koriyama Kenshi Boseki Co., Ltd. established in Koriyama
It is Japan’s eighth oldest silk spinning company that ran a power generation business and also a spinning business utilizing its surplus electricity by utilizing the Asaka irrigation canal, which was promoted by the Meiji government and laid the foundation of developing Koriyama.


Fukushima Seiren Seishi Co., Ltd. established in Fukushima
The silk manufacturer produced raw silk reeled from cocoons and peigne, an intermediate product of spun silk yarn.


Nitto Boseki Co., Ltd. established
Fukushima Boseki Co., Ltd. (formerly Fukushima Seiren Seishi) integrated with Katakura Seishi Iwashiro Bosekisho (formerly Koriyama Kenshi Boseki) and changed its name to Nitto Boseki Co., Ltd.
The company name begins with “Nitto,” a synonym of Japan, and represents the founder’s resolution: “Being vigorously spirited and renewed every day as a spinning operator in the east of the sunrise.”


First Japanese proprietary industrial producers of staple fiber (synthetic fiber manufactured from pulp)
We were the first to succeed in the industrial production of staple fiber with proprietary technology, using the staple fiber manufactured from pulp as an optimal synthetic fiber in Japan, where available natural resources were limited




Succeeded in industrial production of glass fiber (first in the world)
Succeeded in industrial production of rock wool (first in Japan)
We succeeded in the industrial production of glass fiber and rock wool.
These materials met the demand for fire resistance and heat resistance.

We were the first in the world to develop polymer compound polyamine sulfone (PAS), a functional polymer patented in seven countries and used as a dye-fixing agent, acid-corrosion inhibitor, and sizing agent for paper manufacturing.

We started production of glass cloth for printed wiring boards to meet the increasing demand in response to the advancement of computers and technology of integrated circuits (ICs).


Started production of a blood coagulation factor in vitro diagnostic reagent
Successfully synthesized and launched specialty chemical PAA® (first in the world)
We were the first in the world to develop an industrial production method of polyallylamine (PAA®), a functional polymer patented in many countries, including the U.S.A. It is used for various processing operations such as dyeing, textile treatment, paper manufacturing, metal surface treatment, and rust prevention.


Launched Special Glass T-glass
T-glass, characterized by its high strength and low thermal expansion, was initially used in composite materials and is now used in semiconductor package substrates for high-speed processing and highly reliable servers and smartphones.

In order to enter the immunological in vitro diagnostic reagent market, we acquired International Immunology Corporation (IIC) in the U.S.A., an antiserum manufacturer (predecessor of Nittobo America Inc.)
