Nittobo's modified cross section chopped strands are high-performance chopped strands that use modified cross section fiber developed using Nittobo's proprietary technology. In contrast to the round cross section of regular glass fiber, the cross section of modified cross section fibers is oval. Because of this shape, these chopped strands exhibit diverse characteristics as base materials for injection molding, providing higher liquidity, dimensional stability, and tensile strength.
Modification ratio: Ratio of horizontal length of an oval cross section to its vertical length

Strength of molded products
An oval cross section fiber is stronger than a round cross section fiber.
Dimensional stability
Because they are less anisotropic, these chopped strands enable manufacture of less warped and twisted molded products.
