Contributing to the global environment by pursuing food safety, improving
the living environment and conserving energy and resources |

The Nittobo Group has developed and refined several products that contribute to the global environment, including the first successful industrial production of rock wool and glass wool in Japan.
Rock wool and glass wool have many properties, including insulation, heat retention, cold retention and sound absorption, and are used in various forms as building materials that contribute to energy conservation. Since most of the raw materials are made from recycled products, there is also the contribution to the global environment from the aspects of conservation of resources.
As a green business initiative, we sell Grodan rock wool for agriculture and horticulture manufactured by Rockwool B.V. (registered in the Netherlands). In addition, we are growing the vegetables such as tomatoes in own greenhouse. Through these activities, we contribute to food safety.
Utilizing the advanced technological strength of the Group, we also contribute to improving the living environment by developing a wide range of businesses including design, construction and consultation for sound spaces, equipment engineering.

■ Glass wool insulation |
| The raw material for Nittobo glass wool products is at least 80% recycled glass from bottles collected from households. As materials contributing to energy conservation, glass wool products have a wide range of applications from residential and office buildings to ships, vehicles and refrigerators. It is a material that conserves energy and resources by recycling post-consumer products as raw material, as well as reusing the material ends that are generated in the production process. |

■ Rock wool substrate for agriculture and horticulture |
The main raw material for the rock wool substrate that Rockwool B.V.*1  produces for agricultural and horticultural use is basalt. Based on the advanced manufacturing systems and cultivation know-how at Rockwool, the substrate is used worldwide as a high-quality artificial substrate that is far superior to soil. The substrate has obtained the EU Eco Label and is acclaimed for its low impact on the environment from the collection of the raw material and production of natural resources to final disposal.
In addition, at Nittobo we use our own technology to contribute to the protection of the global environment by recycling the rock wool substrate that we sell. |
